Matthew Spears, 48, of Brick passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023.  He was born in New Brunswick, NJ to William and Susan (Duhrkopp) Spears.  Beloved brother of Michelle (Spears) Caposello, brother-in-law of Daryl Caposello, and proud uncle of Jared Caposello; he also leaves behind his many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

 Matt has lived most of his life in Brick, NJ and graduated from Brick Twp High School in 1994.  in his younger years he enjoyed skateboarding and surfing, he especially enjoyed his surfing trips to Costa Rica.

 Matt had a passion for riding and working on his ATVs.  He made trips to Glamis, CA just to ride the dunes; Matt was a talented handy man with a knack for repairing or building anything earning him the nicknames “Matty MacGyver” and “Mr. Fix It”.   He worked many years for Dive Masters Inc. as an engineer.

 Matthew had numerous friends who he considered family; everyone he knew will remember his heart of gold, the willingness to give the shirt off his back and of course, his catch phrase when leaving someone’s company, “Peace” or “Peace Brother”.

 Matthew will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

  A Memorial Gathering was held on Wednesday June 21st from 3PM- 7PM.
